Week Four, Day Three

First off, it's remarkable what can be done in photoshop. I knew photoshop can change a picture greatly but now I'm maintaining my own box of tools and skills.

This week I enjoyed using the sharpening tool and the forced depth of field. Both techniques add a new dimension to the photos. Also, each promotes the adoptability of the animals; doing these fine tuning techniques allows the animals' to be shown in the best light possible.

This lovely animal is Daffe (#30323). Daffe was a bit afraid at first to have a picture taken but after some 'love' and a belly rub was more than willing to take plenty of pictures. This picture I used the sharpening tool and it adds more texture to the animal. It presents the animal in greater detail.

This big kitty is Angel (#29618) was prepared and ready to have her picture taken. She sat right up and looked at the camera. This picture demonstrates forced depth of field (using the gaussian blur). By making the background less in focus, this technique really allows the cat to be the center of attention in this photo.

  1. I really like how you got both these animals to look straight at the camera, that's impressive! I do have one note about Daffe's picture that might help you bring her out more. Overall it seems kind of blue, so perhaps color correcting won't make her look more sad than she probably was. However, your Angel photo is excellent! She looks like royalty in the way she holds her posture and is looking at the viewer as if she is gracing us with her presence! Haha.

  2. I totally agree with you about the power of photoshop! I love your images of the dog, Daffe and the cat, Angel. One note about Angel, her ears are a little blurry. I know I am struggling with the selection tool and end up making the outline of my animals blurry. I didn't know if that was the case here. I do love the catch lights that you have captured in these images too!

  3. The kitty image is stunning! You made Angel look like-an angel! She seems so soft and clean. I find for Daffe, a longer exposure time would help bring more light and contrast into the photo. Also, the vignette seem slightly too strong, but that’s an easy fix!

  4. Corrections are coming along well. And those are some fantastic observations from your classmates!

  5. @Allycat Thanks for the suggestion.

    @Kiba I'm not sure either. I don't have the original picture anymore but I know the cat had many different colors in her fur.

    @Professor Johnstone, I agree...thank you classmates! :)
